Being stationed in Europe is a once in a lifetime opportunity. There are many things to do while you are stationed in Italy so get out of the barracks and maximize your time there!

Skydive Thiene

Only a short 20 minutes from Del Din, Skydive Thiene is a great place for new and experienced skydivers. Open from March through December on the weekends and holidays, there are few better ways to spend your weekend. Skydive Thiene is a USPA affiliated Drop Zone and is fair priced for Tandems, AFF, and becoming a licensed skydiver. Once licensed you can jump at most Drop Zones around the world! 

Lake Garda

One of the best day trip spots in all of Northern Italy, Lake Garda has something to offer for everyone. Lake Garda is Italy’s largest lake with 32 miles of crystal clear water, surrounded by the Dolomites and 5 islands with gorgeous architecture. You can rent a boat to take on the water during the day or spend the day with your family hiking the islands. If sailing or hiking isn’t your thing there are countless beaches to lounge at while enjoying some Italian cuisine. 

Jesolo Beach

Another great summer spot, Jesolo is only an hour's drive North of Vicenza. Off the coast of the Adriatic Sea, Jesolo has great day activities and sprawling nightlife. Bring your family to ride the famous Ferris wheel or head over to Aqualandia the waterpark. The main strip is only one block away from the beach and offers miles of shopping, bars, and nightclubs to party from dusk to dawn.

Amarone Wine Tour

If you are looking for a great romantic date idea, you can’t go wrong with Amarone or any of the other local vineyards in the area. For less than a hundred euros you will be given a personal tour of the vineyard, the villas, and the winery. Most tours include a wonderful wine tasting, a meal, and if you make good conversation you might go home with a few bottles of the local wine personally selected by the owner.  

Asiago

You will inevitably do a land nav course or an STX in Asiago. But it is much more fun to visit on your own time. The area located in the Alps has plenty of hiking trails with beautiful views. The cozy town has excellent restaurants and stopping points. Asiago of course is where the famous cheese known around the world is from, so while you’re there take the time to find a local store to sample from.
